I know it’s been awhile but I’m back and not going anywhere! This has been a long time coming! Literally a year lol I’ve had so many major life changes once I started this blog. Even at that time I received so much love and support, I can’t thank everyone enough. Most importanly, thank God for allowing me to share my story and His glory. Life has been lifeing and my TBI has been TBI-ing. It’s just been a lot but I do want to recognize Brain Injury Awareness month which was last month.
March has been recognized since 1993 as Brain Injury Awareness Month and has been embraced by various organizations globally to help raise awareness of brain injuries and the individuals living with them. Brain injuries are extremely unpredictable and can be caused by a wide range of incidents, both external and internal.
Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is one of the most common types of brain injuries — and it also happens to be the leading cause of death and disability in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “people most commonly get TBIs from a fall, firearm-related injury, motor vehicle crash, or an assault.”
As a TBI survivor myself, this month holds a very special place in my heart. It’s a time for me to reflect on my own journey, connect with others in the brain injury community (especially at our annual survivors conference), and spread awareness about the challenges and triumphs that come with living with a brain injury.
And what better way to celebrate Brain Injury Awareness Month this year than writing on my blog and again. Ooop and let me not forget the the launch of my very first podcast episode for The Komeback Khronicles?! 🎉
I can’t wait to share my story, experiences, and so much more with all of you through this podcast. I hope you find as much joy and inspiration watching and listening as I did recording it.
Thank you for your patience and for riding along on this journey with me — the komeback is just getting started!
