This month has been recognized since 1993 as Brain Injury Awareness Month and has been embraced by various organizations globally to help raise awareness of brain injuries and the individuals living with them. Brain injuries are extremely unpredictable and can be caused by a wide range of incidents, both external and internal.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) is one of the most common types of brain injuries — and it also happens to be the leading cause of death and disability in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), “people most commonly get TBIs from a fall, firearm-related injury, motor vehicle crash, or an assault.”

As a TBI survivor myself, this month holds a very special place in my heart. It’s a time for me to reflect on my own journey, connect with others in the brain injury community (especially at our annual survivors conference), and spread awareness about the challenges and triumphs that come with living with a brain injury.

And what better way to kick off Brain Injury Awareness Month than by announcing the launch of my very first podcast episode for The Komeback Khronicles?! 🎉

This has been a long time coming! I’ve spent so much time trying to perfect it — second-guessing myself, wondering if this is really what I’m meant to do, and even battling some serious camera shyness. Honestly, there were moments when I felt completely overwhelmed. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: there’s so much beauty within the journey.

Life has been busy — between raising my daughter, learning new skills, working, and just trying to balance everything. But I’m finally ready to share this first episode with you. Drumroll please… It will officially drop TOMORROW!

I can’t wait to share my story, experiences, and so much more with all of you through this podcast. I hope you find as much joy and inspiration watching and listening as I did recording it.

Thank you for your patience and for riding along on this journey with me — the comeback is just getting started!
